Hebrew for You - Toda

How do you express gratitude when someone does something special for you?  Do you say thank you?  How does someone in Israel express gratitude?

Today’s Hebrew lesson takes a look at how to say thank you in Hebrew.  It is with the word toda – תודה-

Hebrew is written and read from right to left, unlike English which is written and read from left to right.  Eliezer Ben-Yehuda is credited with making Hebrew a modern language.

In Modern Hebrew, as spoken in Israel today, toda basically only means thank you.  But in biblical Hebrew toda takes on many other meanings. Watch and learn as Daniel Gorden teaches us more about the word toda.
