The Feast of Unleavened Bread

Wave Sheaf, Feast of Unleavened Bread, Three Days and Nights

The Wave Sheaf offering and the Feast of Unleavened Bread are the second and third Holy Days on the Biblical calendar celebrated for centuries by Jewish people and other people who want to follow the Biblical outline.

The Feast of Unleavened Bread lasts for seven days and starts the day after the Passover.  Within the Feast of Unleavened Bread is the Wave Sheaf offering. When within the Feast of Unleavened Bread the Wave Sheaf was offered is a topic of debate in some circles, which Rabbi Jeff Zaremsky explains in this drasha/sermon.

The Holy Days they commemorate an event of the past (such as Passover commemorating our deliverance from the bondage in Egypt), or were a special occasion in the temple services (for example Yom Kippur), or marking the yearly cycle of harvests (such as the Wave Sheaf offering), and some fall into more than one of those categories (for example Sukkot is commemorative of our time in the wilderness, and celebrated the fall harvest with a ceremony in the Temple).

All the Holy Days also have a prophetic fulfillment that affects our lives today. How the Wave Sheaf offering and Feast of Unleavened Bread are fulfilled prophetically, and how they affect our lives is the main topic of discussion of this drasha. The exactness of the fulfillment, and the implications are fascinating.

There is an interesting twist to this discussion regarding a single text found in Matthew 12:40 which is a reference to Jonah being in the belly of a whale for three days and three nights. Rabbi Jeff will demonstrate the timeline which will be amazingly harmonious of all the Bible texts.
