The surgeries and cardiac procedures are provided by the all-voluntary medical staff who are health care professionals and medical students from countries also around the world. There are approximately 100 young college and high school students, who excel in their leadership roles and are helping to get the word out that this special program exists through social media and fund-raising drives that keeps this hospital running. These funds are necessary because before surgery, during surgery and post-operative care is needed in their pediatric intensive care units before and after cardiac surgery is performed.
This pediatric cardiac care serves neighboring nations in the Middle East such as Palestinians in Gaza, Iraq, and Syria, where for a while, the only concern is the life of a child needing lifesaving services and restoration of health. That includes a quality of life that they otherwise would not have without the love and support of cardiac professionals, anesthesia care, nurses and many other disciplines of medical care and cardiac rehabilitation. More impressive are the number of doctors and nurses that often will go to the children, in their native home, if travel is too perilous because of cardiac instability.
Imagine living in countries where even a clean and cold glass of water and other life essentials are not available. A parent begins to feel helpless as they see their child’s life diminished without knowing why. Fortunately Save a Child’s Heart provides lifesaving care without regard to race, creed or country. The all-volunteer staff provides educational services to both parents and children in their native language. Too, cardiac medical students come to learn from Israeli doctors, and experienced cardiac surgeons in an effort to teach a new generation of volunteer physicians.
Time and again we see the people of Israel, so highly intelligent and wanting a lasting peace go beyond borders for so many advancements such as cell phone chips, drip irrigation, not to mention the Iron Dome that is sadly needed for Israeli protection from nations who overlook the loveliness of kindness and the true love Israel consistently brings to the world.
