After blowing up the Beaufort Fortress 26 years ago (2000), the IDF is back at the summit. The IDF reopened the road to Beaufort Fortress which begins near Misgav Am.
The fortress is one of the most strategically important points in Southern Lebanon. The Litani River, where the IDF built a bridge, is an integral part of the operating forces. The fort, which overlooks Lebanon is important in defending the Galilee Panhandle, Metula, and the surrounding communities. Beneath the fortress, there is a vast complex of rooms.
Beaufort is not only a military objective, but also a symbol of the security zone. It inspired the book, “There’s a Heaven” and a film called “Beaufort.” Watch the video to go deeper into the story. The footage is very exciting.
