Hero Cartoonist Educates, Entertains, and Inspires In Spite Of Stroke

Cartoonist Yaakov Kirschen is an Israeli hero who continues to fight for Israel and the Jewish people at the age of 87 years and in spite of a recent stroke.

Yaakov knows that his work is so important that he is continuing to draw political cartoons while he is in rehab.  He does not have all his computer equipment and its expensive programs with him but that has not stopped him from his mission and amazing gift to speak the pungent truth in very few words with a cartoon.

This cartoon, drawn days after his stroke, on the day that hamas delivered the bodies of ten month old baby Kfir Bibas, and his four year old brother Ariel that they murdered and held onto for over a year, is a classic, in message, sad humor in the face of painful tragedy, and artwork. We can clearly see that Yaakov's mind is still as clear as ever and his pencil is just as sharp as ever. Yaakov started creating cartoon's before there were computers, thus he knows how to continue to deliver his important messages in the same way it has been done for centuries.

Yaakov has been drawing and commenting on the news of the day for well over half a century and he will not stop as long as he has a pencil and paper. And we all benefit from his passion and work.

Dry Bones is the title of Yaakov's cartoon and is known around the world. Its daily cartoon blog is posted on JNS. Yaakov has the unique ability to take a news item that would take most reporters paragraphs to write, and to boil it down to a few words and a facial expression of his classic comic characters.

Israel’s heroes come in all forms, including an 87 year old, in rehab, recovering from a stroke, who boldly stands up against baby murderers, anti-Semites, liars, and terrorists supporters, with his pencil and cartoon. Yaakov is a hero who educates us regarding current events, often with humor, and inspires us with his love for Israel.

Join us in praying for a full recovery for Yaakov Kirschen, for a freeing of all of the Israeli hostages, and for all those who are mourning, including the Bibas family.

Am Israel Chai.
