This video provides beautiful scenery to enjoy while playing the song “If Anyone Thirsts”. This song is inspired by the Bible which says “O God, you are my God; I will seek you eagerly. My heart thirsts for you, my body longs for you in a land parched and exhausted, where no water can be found.” Psalm 63:2
And “Now on the last day of the festival, Hoshana Rabbah, Yeshua stood and cried out, “If anyone is thirsty, let him keep coming to me and drinking! Whoever puts his trust in me, as the Scripture says, rivers of living water will flow from his inmost being!” (Now he said this about the Spirit, whom those who trusted in him were to receive later — the Spirit had not yet been given, because Yeshua had not yet been glorified.) John 7:37-39
As I was thinking about the song, the importance of the “living” part describing the water became clearer to me. Water is very important in general and while still water can be good if it is purified and kept in a sealed container it won’t do anyone any good if it is not put to use. And if we are talking about water out in nature, if you have a body of water that doesn’t move it can easily become offensive to your senses and very smelly as it can readily breed all sorts of things as decaying matter builds up more easily as it gets trapped in one spot with nothing to help clear it out. I’d say sometimes it may be far better to go without old dirty water than to have it as drinking it could cause you to lose more fluids than you would otherwise by resulting in vomiting and/or diarrhea.
In a spiritual sense it is important to have a relationship with God that is not stagnant. When just collect a bunch of beliefs that don’t actually move us to do anything, we won’t have a positive impact on ourselves or others. In fact, we could actually get worse than if we won’t exposed to truth at all and our influence may actually make others spiritually sick. And we will still die of thirst on the inside, even if everything about the water we think we have looks right. I think it is also important to notice that the living water Yeshua talks about comes flows from the inside out it is not merely a surface level performance. “You snakes! How can you who are evil say anything good? For the mouth speaks what overflows from the heart. The good person brings forth good things from his store of good, and the evil person brings forth evil things from his store of evil.” Matthew 12:34-35. So let us thirst for the good water of righteousness that our souls may be filled and others can be blessed.
