A most famous picture from the Holocaust is that of a young boy with his hands raised while a Nazi guard points a rifle at the boy.

This guard's name was Josef Blosche.  The Jews nicknamed him "Frankenstein" Josef Blosche.  He was terribly brutal in his treatment of the Jewish people.

After the collapse of Nazi Germany in May 1945, he surrendered to the soviet Red Army and became a prisoner of war of the Soviet Union. He was put in a Soviet labor camp. He was arrested and put on trial in Erfurt, Germany in April 1969. He was convicted of crimes against humanity and sentenced to death. Blosche was executed by a single shot through the neck or in the head in Leipzig on 29 July 1969.
