The brand new largest telescope ever is names after a female Jewish astronomer and is already giving amazing results.
"The heavens declare the glory of God; And the firmament shows His handiwork. Day unto day utters speech, And night unto night reveals knowledge. There is no speech nor language Where their voice is not heard. Their line has Gone out through all the earth. And their words to the end of the world."
In 1990 NASA's Hubble Space Telescope was launched, 320 miles above planet Earth. It completes one trip around the Earth every 95 minutes. We have thrilled at Hubble's photos and findings for 35 years. Their headquarters is in Flagstaff, AZ.
The James Webb Space Telescope that NASA launched 12/25/2021 is reported to study every phase of the history of our universe. It orbits the sun, observing our universe in ways once impossible.
We learn that a NEW observatory has opened. It is the Vera C. Rubin Observatory, high atop a mountain in the Chilean Andes. The operations will be in full effect in late 2025. It contains the largest digital camera ever put on a telescope, capturing galaxies we've never seen before. It reveals nova's, super nova's, asteroids, comets, dark matter, stars, galaxies--surveying the sky and revealing 10 million alerts every night. It has the fastest live scope, moving to the next target in the sky every 5 seconds. We read that this is the "world's biggest movie" and will gaze into the entire sky in 10 years.
Vera C. Rubin, Ph.D. from Georgetown U., pioneered the work on galaxy rotation rates. She was an American astronaut. She was born to a Jewish family in Philadelphia, PA, in 1928. She did Astro physical research, some of the most important of the 20th century. It is so exciting to learn what scientists are finding in the great heavens these days. Enjoy exploring with them. One day soon our Lord will take us with Him on a journey that will be "out of this world."
